Luther alums have gone on to find success in many fields, and come November 2008, another could succeed as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Kurt Meyer (‘76) is running in Iowa, and his family, including Luther junior Ellie Meyer (‘09), is proudly supporting him.

Democratic hopeful Kurt Meyer, running for Congress in Iowa's 4th Congressional District, made a brief campaign stop at McShanny's  in New Hampton Friday.

Meyer is one of four Democratic candidates seeking to run against Tom Latham in the November election.

According to Meyer, his campaign is committed to meeting with voters throughout the entire 28-county district, "because people are hungry for change in every corner of the 4th district."

Kurt Meyer, a Democrat from St. Ansgar, visited Marshalltown Friday, announcing his candidacy for Iowa's 4th Congressional District.

The district is currently represented by Republican Rep. Tom Latham.

"When you are an incumbent, you will be graded on your record," Meyer said. "One of the challenges of my campaign will be to point out what I would have done differently."
